Boilermakers Union National Training Trust Fund
The Boilermakers union was increasing the role of training coordinators at each of their Canadian lodges. As part of the initiative, there was a need to improve training delivery skills for training coordinators.
Griffiths Sheppard was engaged to provide a two-day introductory presentation skills seminar for all union training coordinators. The material was developed based on the IBSTPI standards for instructional delivery, and was geared toward individuals with little or no formal training in presentation, oral communication and instructional methods.
This was the first initiative in an on-going effort by the union to improve training across the board, and regular training coordinator conferences are now used to continue to develop these skills on a consistent basis.
